Breathing Out Stress

Click here for the original post.

In our last health tip, we talked about how stress is toxic to your memory.

This breathing-out-stress exercise can be done when you’re all alone, with eyes closed in a quiet place, or when chaos seems to surround you, such as rush hour traffic (but with your eyes open and hands on the wheel).

Sit quietly in a straight-backed chair with your eyes closed, palms on your thighs. Now breathe in slowly, through your nose, filling your lungs from the bottom to the very top. Focus on your belly, letting it relax and expand outward as you breathe in.

Then, slowly exhale through you mouth. Repeat 10 times and feel the calm.

Ideally, add this to a daily program of meditation or yoga.
