DAVID EDELBERG
Internal Medicine

INTRODUCTIONS, PLEASE!

Dr. Edelberg, board certified in Internal Medicine in 1974, began incorporating alternative therapies into his practice during the 1980’s. Since founding the parent company of WholeHealth Chicago in 1993, he has become nationally recognized as one of the pioneers of integrative medicine, a new specialty combining conventional medicine with alternative therapies. Author of numerous articles and editor of five books on integrative medicine; look for his latest book, “The Triple Whammy Cure” (Free Press, January, 2006).

SHOULD I SEE HIM? YES…

If you have any longstanding medical problem or symptoms which have not been diagnosed or treated to your satisfaction.

If you are on medications for any condition which worry you about side effects and you want to know if alternative therapies are available.

If you have a medical condition that is being treated to your satisfaction elsewhere, but are curious if alternative therapies might be effective.

If you believe you have one of the conditions regarded as controversial or ‘non-existent’ by many physicians. These include: fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, candida overgrowth, low blood sugar, hidden food allergies, intestinal parasites, chemical sensitivities, heavy metal poisoning, adrenal gland exhaustion and mildly underactive thyroid gland.

If you wish to see a primary care physician who will focus on wellness, disease prevention, and slowing down the inevitable process of getting older.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

A very detailed initial visit, focusing on you as a unique individual, aimed to determine why and how a change in your health first began to appear.

A physical examination, with a discussion about appropriate diagnostic tests, if any are needed.

A talk about the ‘mechanics’ of your specific condition. Why you are feeling the way you do, and what you might expect from conventional, nutritional, and alternative therapies.

The creation of an individualized "Healing Path" a patient-physician partnership summary of Dr. Edelberg’s recommendations, both conventional and alternative, including reading lists, dietary changes, and referrals to other practitioners.

OTHER SERVICES

When needed, referrals to conventional specialists at the city’s major medical centers who are respectful of alternative therapies.

FROM DR. EDELBERG….
"With virtually any health condition, it’s vital to understand how significantly your lifestyle choices and the biographical events in your life influence your state of well-being. Many times, just making a few positive changes will jumpstart your ‘factory-installed’ systems of self-healing."
