Insurance Information

Does Blue Cross/Blue Shield cover my visits?
Dr. Edelberg, Dr. Rubin, Dr. Stoler, Dr. Maurer, and Dr. Chandler are providers for Blue Cross/Blue Shield (BC/BS) PPO. A deductible and co-payment may be required. BC/BS pays for most laboratory tests, but some of the specialty tests may not be covered. BC/BS does not cover acupuncture, vitamin infusions, as well as several other services. Please contact our office for more information on BC/BS coverage. You’ll be expected to pay for any services not covered.

Does Medicare cover my visits?
Dr. Edelberg does not accept Medicare, and Medicare will not reimburse visits with him. In compliance with federal legal guidelines, you will need to sign a waiver stating that you will not submit any claims for Dr. Edelberg’s services to Medicare. This is in compliance with federal legal guidelines. However, many of the lab tests ordered by Dr. Edelberg may be covered by Medicare. The laboratory will bill Medicare directly when these tests are required.

Dr. Rubin, Dr. Stoler, Dr. Maurer, and Dr. Chandler accept Medicare, and your office visits will be covered after a deductible is met. Medicare covers only Dr. Rubin and Dr. Maurer’s spinal manipulation services. It does not cover acupuncture, vitamin infusions, nutritional counseling, or many other services. Please contact our office for more information on Medicare coverage. You’ll be expected to pay for any services not covered.

Do you accept HMOs?
WholeHealth Chicago is not a HMO provider.

What about insurance coverage for other services?
Services such as acupuncture, therapeutic massage, Healing Touch, and nutrient infusions, as well as others, are usually not covered by insurers. Upon request, WholeHealth Chicago will provide receipts for patients to self-submit for reimbursement.  In addition, nutritional and herbal products are generally not covered under pharmacy benefits.

Will you bill my insurance for me?
As a service to you, we submit claims to your insurance company. However, you are responsible for any portion of the claim not reimbursed by your insurance.

Will my HSA or FSA pay for non-covered services?
Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts often pay for healthcare services and products that your health insurance will not cover. Because of this, we encourage patients to enroll in HSA’s when they are offered by your employer. We will provide documentation of medical necessity to facilitate reimbursement. Check with your program administrator or our office for more information.
